Formiball for professionals
A simple tool for working on reaction time, coordination and decision-making
Formiball is not just a training ball intended for athletes.
Thanks to its random light signals, its three colors and its deliberately unpredictable bounce, It can be integrated into many exercises involving reaction, coordination, attention and movement adaptation.
This is why Formiball is now used by various professionals: Physiotherapists, psychomotor therapists, sports coaches, physical trainers, clubs, academies and motor support professionals.
The same ball, but very different possibilities for use depending on the objectives of each professional.
🩺 Formiball in physiotherapy and rehabilitation
Many physiotherapy practices use Formiball to enrich their exercises with a visual and reactive component.
The principle is simple: when the ball is thrown against the ground or a wall, it lights up randomly in one of its three colors.
The professional can associate each color with a different instruction: direction, hand to use, displacement, movement or specific action.
This allows, in particular, for the integration of work around the following into the exercises:
- eye-hand coordination;
- the reaction to a visual stimulus;
- the precision of the gesture;
- motor adaptation;
- attention;
- coordination in movement.
The difficulty can be gradually adjusted by changing the distance, speed, starting position or the instructions associated with the colors.
Formiball remains an exercise tool: the choice and adaptation of exercises in a rehabilitation context are of course the responsibility of the healthcare professional.
🧠 Formiball in psychomotor skills
Psychomotor skills offer a particularly interesting field for Formiball.
Light transforms a classic motor instruction into an activity in which one must observe, identify information, choose a response, then act.
For example :
🔴 Red → touch a red cone
🔵 Blue → grab with the left hand
🟢 Green → touch the ground before retrieving the ball
The possibilities are almost endless and can be adapted to each person's age and abilities.
Formiball can thus be integrated into activities surrounding the coordination, attention, spatial awareness, dissociation of movements, and adaptation to a visual instruction.
Thank you to the LELUMA psychomotor therapists
We would like to thank in particular LELUMA psychomotor therapists, who have imagined and shared with us superb exercises using Formiball.
Their creativity perfectly demonstrates how a very simple tool can be repurposed and integrated into various psychomotor pathways.
Their exercises also allow us to discover new ways to use Formiball far beyond its initial sporting use.

🏃 Formiball for coaches and physical trainers
In sports, performance does not depend solely on speed of execution.
The athlete must also to perceive information, interpret it and adapt one's movement.
This is precisely what Formiball allows you to add to a classic exercise.
A physical trainer, for example, might associate each color with:
- a direction;
- a change of support;
- a sprint;
- a specific movement;
- a hand or a foot;
- a technical action.
The ball then becomes an external stimulus to which the athlete must adapt.
Formiball can easily be integrated into a warm-up, a physical preparation circuit or specific coordination and reactivity work.
⚽🏀🤾 Formiball for sports clubs and academies
Football, basketball, handball, racket sports, combat sports, goalkeepers…
The exercises can be adapted to the constraints of each discipline.
For a goalkeeper, a color can determine a direction.
For a basketball player, it can determine a hand or a movement.
For a handball player, a defensive action.
For a combat sport, a dodge or a movement.
The goal is therefore not to impose a particular exercise, but to allow coaches to create their own associations between visual stimulus and motor response.
3 colors, a multitude of exercises
Formiball's operation is intentionally simple.
With each sufficiently strong impact, the ball can light up in:
🔴 red
🔵 blue
🟢 Green
Then, you simply need to associate an instruction with each of the colors.
And because its bounce is intentionally irregular, the participant cannot fully anticipate the trajectory of the ball.
See. Decide. React.
It is this simplicity that allows each professional to build exercises adapted to their own field.
